Skills Expert Programm
Since the beginning of 2019, through the support of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, AHK Nigeria is implementing a “Skills Expert Program” (SEP) with the primary goal to establish sustainable structures to enable dual vocational training in Nigeria.
The "Skills Experts" funded by the BMWi make an important contribution to the promotion of German foreign trade and investment and to securing the foreign investment of German industry in Nigeria.
The "Skills Experts" program is supported by the BMWi - with the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK e.V.) as program partner. It aims to strengthen small and medium-sized German companies abroad in the qualification of local workers. The "Skills Experts" work closely together with the DIHK e.V. in order to guarantee globally comparable and quality-assured standards of in-company training and its certification according to the German model. A key focus is in the active involvement of private sector in the training. In an ever-changing world, dual vocational training offers job security that many people strive for while at the same time giving the company the confidence in the skills and capabilities of the staff they employ.
Through SEP, AHK Nigeria is promoting the dual TVET system as the ideal platform for training in TVET whereby 60 to 70 percent of the training takes place in the company and 30 to 40 percent in school. In contrast to purely school-based training, Dual Training offers the opportunity to directly put into practice what has been learnt in class and be part of the team in the company. This motivates learning and increases the fun at work, because you see results immediately.
