From the 11th to the 13th of April 2018, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria organized B2B matchmaking activities as part of the Make-IT Accelerator by GIZ. The Make-IT in Africa accelerator particularly promotes digital innovation for sustainable and inclusive development.

Throughout the so-called transition week at the Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) in Yaba, Lagos, several innovative and dynamic events took place. The purpose of this week was to gather different key organizations and actors to prepare the 15  promising West African startups for cooperation readiness. During the past 3 months, the Make-IT team, together with CcHub, provided an intensive training program in order to make the startups evolve from “training mode” to “cooperation mode”. The transition week was supported by AHK Nigeria and its New Economy & Startups department, which aims to connect corporate partners with the growing West African startup ecosystem.

The 15 startups benefited from the experience and the network of AHK Nigeria with personal consultations, B2B linkage and matchmaking introductions. The transition week also prepared the entrepreneurs for the Make-IT mentorship program implemented by Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A). CcHub was the perfect location to organize such an event - a lively lab and incubation space designed to be a multi-purpose space where creative social tech ventures take shape.
